Our Federal Constitution is a starting point in understanding the place of citizens in Malaysia, for ourselves and our neighbours. An objective and careful study of the Constitution through the eyes of legal experts is necessary to understand the context we are in for us relate to others better. This is essential to our being salt and light in this land.

 

For the first time, CNBM brings in Malaysia's constitutional expert Prof Datuk Dr Shad Faruqi to guide us through the document. Both sessions are compulsory to the full understanding of the document, and reading materials will be provided by email and on the days of the seminar.

 

The sessions would cover:

- A background of the Federal Constitution

- An overview on its contents and how they were formulated

- Key features and protections

- Fundamental liberties and restrictions

- Ethnic relations and minorities

- Its place in fostering nation-building
